Love the book and love
Love the book and love the website!
As a Realtor in Ottawa
As a Realtor in Ottawa Ontario, I have purchased multiple copies of Bruce’s first two bilingual children’s books. My team gifts them to both potential clients and clients who purchased homes through my WALKER sales team. To date, the recipients have been very appreciative and the kids love them! Furthermore it allows Kids Help Phone to further benefit because with every book sale a portion goes to Kids Help Phone.
Best,
Geoff
Wonderfully illustrated and written, with
Wonderfully illustrated and written, with such positive messages. Whether in English, ou en Français, you and your children will LOVE Mr Kool’s books, as they are stories of real experiences, told by a great Educator!
Bruce Foster’s first book is
Bruce Foster’s first book is already a Canada Book Award winner and it’s easy to see why. Zena’s Sixth Birthday Lessons Learned! is a wonderful story that takes readers through Zena’s day. Zena is a grade 1 student at Grover Elementary School, and today is her 6th birthday! The story follows Zena through some special birthday moments at school; however, despite the celebration of the day, not all is fun and games. Mr. Kool, the school principal, reminds Zena and her classmates about the importance of following school rules to keep everyone safe! Bruce Foster does a great job sharing lessons with the readers in a light hearted fashion. These lessons are both educational and current. He brings the Kids Help Phone into the story to keep the story real, and discusses some very current topics. Although there are some serious lessons brought to the reader’s attention, the illustrator, Jessica Fleury, does a great job at keeping the story light with some bright and cheery images. She also finishes the book off with a game that will keep your little readers intrigued over and over again. My kids love this book and have read it several times. Young and old readers are sure to enjoy this book, as there are always lessons to be learned!

Beautifully creative and inspiring! Mr.
Beautifully creative and inspiring! Mr. Foster was my elementary school Vice-Principal in Vankleek Hill, Ontario and it’s been a joy to re-connect! Thank you for your books and for supporting the Kids Help Phone! I look forward to the next one!
As a mother of three
As a mother of three children I am pleased to report that my kids have been exposed to and read all four of Kool’s books. They LOVE finding the miniature pics of principal Kool on virtually every page.
I also find that the books are enjoyed by children of many ages. I love that the children’s help phone number is given and encouraged!! Growing kids can benefit so much from resources like this one!!
I have had the privilege
I have had the privilege and pleasure of purchasing Bruce’s children books! They are beautiful and full of lessons for the youth of today! They are full of insight and contain many life lessons. Not surprising coming from an author that has spent over 4 decades in the field of education! Bruce as a fellow teacher I can hardly wait for your third amazing children’s book! Job well done!?
My son and I greatly
My son and I greatly enjoyed reading Zena’s Sixth Birthday and Wild Times at Kool’s School. Bruce has been an educator for more than 40 years, having taught both me and my son. His stories draw on his decades of experience to teach children about bullying and safety. In addition to the educational aspects of his books, I really appreciated the fact that his characters reflect the multi-cultural and diverse nature of contemporary Canadian society. We look forward to reading his third book which will be released in the fall of 2018. Ouida and Barack
Bruce was my Vice-Principal years
Bruce was my Vice-Principal years ago and I know him to be a caring, empathetic educator and truly one of the great gentlemen that I had the good fortune to work with in my career. I’m not at all surprised that even in retirement, Bruce is still finding ways to help guide kids. I look forward to exploring Bruce’s books!
Wonderful books for kids. Positive
Wonderful books for kids. Positive message. The illustrations are beautiful and entertaining to look at. Both my kids really enjoyed the Halloween book. We loved that it was both in English and French.
I absolutely loved the Mr.
I absolutely loved the Mr. Kool books. I have the complete set and as a Gramma we have enjoyed them all. The storyline in each book is a very good learning tools for our youngsters and the illustrations are so vibrant and Kool , just like Mr Kool himself. A great set of children’s books.
What a treat to have
What a treat to have a bilingual book to read the kiddo. It helps with his learning French to have both languages in the book. My son likes that these books are taking place at a school pretty much like his and he feels like these kids could be him and his friends. The drawings are bright, fun and we enjoyed finding the little Mr. Kool in each picture. A great mix of writing and illustration.
Haunted Halloween is a wonderful
Haunted Halloween is a wonderful book and it speaks to Bruce’s passion for education and his exemplary leadership within the schools.
My kids loved the book and the messages in it, in addition to finding the hidden pic on each page!
The French translation on each page was an added bonus as well and is great practice for my kids as well.
Thank you, Mr. Kool, for
Thank you, Mr. Kool, for allowing us to accompany you through your school experiences in such a fun, personal, and bilingual format! A decade ago, I had the pleasure to work with Mr. Foster at Carson Grove Elementary School in Ottawa, Ontario. As an educator, I consistently witnessed his positive attitude towards, respectful rapport with, and genuine compassion for all students. Now, as a retiree and a ‘Babcia’, I have the pleasure of reading the delightful adventures of Mr. Kool to my grandson, in both French and English. Kudos to the illustrator, Joshua Stewart. His colourful and animated drawings bring life and meaning to the text. I like how the ‘Kids’ Help Phone’ is cleverly woven into Mr. Foster’s stories – a reminder to our youth that help, when needed, is only a phone call away.
I own 3 of Bruce’s
I own 3 of Bruce’s children’s book and love each and every one of them. The stories are real, relevant and engaging. The illustrations are gorgeous, vibrant and eye catching. Every time I read one in class, my students really enjoy listening to them. Our follow up discussions are “real” and look at student concerns. They also think it’s pretty cool that I’m a part of one of the books myself. I feel very honoured to have included my piece in the story, MS Readathon KOOL’S SCHOOL ROCKS. I hope that many children from all around get to read these stories. They won’t be disappointed.
” A Great Gift Idea”I
” A Great Gift Idea”
I am a former colleague of Bruce and I’m not surprised with the quality and messages revealed in the two books I received from him as Christmas gifts for my two grandchildren, Nello and Leandro. I absolutely refuse to buy toys! I mean how many toys and the like do they actually need and end up playing with? Leandro is in full French kindergarten and he is enjoying learning new words in French as he browses through the pictures of Poppa Sids’ old school. Nello is only three and he is learning to recognize words as he matches those words up to the beautifully illustrated pictures. So forget the toys at Christmas these books are a far more worthwhile and valuable gift idea that can be kept and maybe someday even passed on and read to their own children.
Well done Bruce, Sid MacCallum.
